Eric Hughes is an American cypherpunk. A mathematician at University of California, Berkeley in the early 1990s, Hughes is considered one of the founders of the cypherpunk movement, alongside Timothy C. (A Cypherpunk's Manifesto ) Retrieved 2012-09-18.〕 and creating the first anonymous remailer.
The May/June 1993 issue of ''Wired'' featured a cover photo of three masked cypherpunks, of which Hughes was one.
On September 27, 2012, Hughes delivered the keynote address, ''Putting the Personal Back in Personal Computers'', at the Amsterdam CryptoParty.
